About ACCESS Nanosat

The Advancing Core Competencies and Expertise in Space Studies Nanosat Project, or ACCESS Nanosat, provides an opportunity for Filipinos to pursue a master’s degree with specialized courses in space systems engineering and satellite engineering. It offers a chance to become a part of a satellite project that will design and develop the next CubeSat of the country. The CubeSat project is funded, managed and supervised by PhilSA in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI). Engineers and scientists from PhilSA will mentor and guide the successful applicants in the overall process of satellite development.

In ACCESS Nanosat, the selected team members will gain hands-on experience and training in a satellite project while undertaking the nanosat engineering track under the Master of Science or Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MS/MEng EE) program of the UP EEEI, National Graduate School of Engineering (NGSE). The track includes special lectures and technical training on satellite mission planning, design, development, testing, and operation to be conducted at the UP EEEI, which hosts nanosatellite activities.

The team members-students will be supported by scholarship grants of the PhilSA AD ASTRA Scholarships upon application and acceptance into the scholarship program.

Through ACCESS Nanosat, PhilSA continues the country’s nanosatellite research, development and educational activities in an academic setting previously undertaken (second iteration about to complete) by the Space Science and Technology Proliferation through University Partnerships (STeP-UP) Project under the STAMINA4Space Program funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
