PhilSA Advanced Degrees for Accelerating Strategic Space R&D and Applications (PhilSA AD ASTRA) Scholarships Program

About PhilSA AD ASTRA

The PhilSA Advanced Degrees for Accelerating Strategic Space R&D and Applications (PhilSA AD ASTRA) Scholarships Program is established to enable Filipinos to pursue post graduate studies in the field of space science and technology both locally and abroad. The scholarship program provides financial assistance to outstanding students who have completed their Bachelor's degree, and who are aiming to pursue a graduate or doctoral degree at a local or international higher education institutions. It is envisioned that through the scholarship program, a sustainable pool of trained experts critical for the country's space program is attained, a culture of research and innovation in research and development is developed, and quality of practicing engineers, scientists, communicators, and other relevant fields is upgraded.

Since its inception in 2021, a total of fifteen (15) scholars, of which nine (9) are studying locally, have already benefitted from the scholarship. More than 50% of these scholars are expected to be integrated into the local workforce by end of 2024. To sustain the gains of the initial scholarship implementation, the program targets to provide scholarships to ten (10) individuals per year in the next five years. This can help bolster the local space ecosystem and contribute to the knowledge economy of the country as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and Ambisyon Natin 2040 in terms of development of the human capital.

Applications are accepted throughout the year. For more information, click here.
